Overseas Relationships

We have a number of overseas relationships that have developed over recent years.

Masaka, Uganda

Noah Mayiga was sponsored through the Ichthus Radical Network training program (2002-2003) by GateWay Church, and we have maintained very close links with him ever since. It was great to have him with us for August 2006, during which time he came to Revive!. Noah's wife Susan has just given birth to a baby girl called Deborah Namirembe.

After working for three years as assistant pastor of River of Life Church, he switched roles, and is now working for a local Christian charity, Love in Action. Among many other things, Love in Action is closely involved with local schools and Noah is providing pastoral support for staff & pupils alike, setting up Scripture Unions in the schools. At the opening meeting of the Scripture Union in the school at Kyetume, 66 pupils and one member of staff became Christians. And, it has continued to grow steadily week by week. Tremendous!

Noah, working on behalf of Love in Action, has also been responsible for providing practical support to rebuild and restructure the school in Kasaka village following a government inspection. Love in Action have purchased land on which they have built the 3 classrooms, a dormitory, a teachers' block. They also employ the teachers and supply all the requirements! As part of the celebrations to open the school, the Jesus film was shown. Noah spoke afterwards and 15 people committed their lives to Jesus. The school has now expanded, with a further two classrooms to cover the full primary school age range.

River of Life Church is led by Duncan & Mary Kibaya who are Ichthus trained missionaries. They are involved in reaching out into the local community, running a project to care for, house, feed and educate about 20 street boys and girls. They are also key in intiating united prayer for the town and district.

A number of our church members have made visits to Masaka. In Summer 2005 Adrian, Joey and Sam visited Uganda for a few weeks. They all had a life changing experience and had a great time with the church, and especially with the boys. There were opportunities to teach, get involved with the worship, get to know people and build real friendships. One of the real highlights was the all night prayer meeting on the Prayer Mountain. They all want to go back soon!

EuroAid/EuroEvangelism

We have also worked closely with EuroAid/EuroEvangelism. We have participated in their Harvest for the Hungry project for a number of years, and have also been privileged to sponsor Leaders Alpha Training courses in Poland, Bulgaria, Romania and Albania; so equipping churches in each of these countries to reach out with the gospel. Last year we were able to fund the translation of the Alpha course into Albanian. For a number of years we have also supported a community health worker in Sophia, Bulgaria.

Western India

We have a developing relationship with a number of churches in the western part of India. It surprises many people that Christians still suffer persecution in these areas, and we want to stand with, and encourage, our brothers and sisters in Christ.

We also support a number of other friends who are working in restricted access countries.
